For A Great Beer, Head Upstate

Recently in a local Utica area Tavern, Upstate Brewing Company of Elmira, New York was doing some product sampling. They brought along their "Common Sense Kentucky-Style Common Ale" (that's a mouthful, and it was) for taste-testing.

This brew is a dark beer, flavorful but not bitter or hoppy. Here's a brief description of Upstate Brewing's Common Sense Kentrucky-Style Common Ale according to upstatebrewing.com:

"This beer is a revival of a beer style that was one of the most popular beers in America, prior to prohibition: Kentucky Common Ale. It has a dark color with a rich flavorful taste and a decent hint of hops, but is light and easy drinking. It was a dark, yet refreshing beer that the working class people of the time loved to drink very fresh, which was around two weeks after being brewed. We also serve up Common Sense 14 days after brewing it!

5.3% alcohol by volume

Hops: Columbus, Cascade, Willamette

While this brew is available on draught,

Common Sense Ale and I.P.W.

are now available in 4packs of 16 oz. cans!"
