Flash Flood Warning For Oneida, Herkimer Counties October 15-17, 2014
UPDATE 10/16/2014 0402 The Flash Flood Warning has been extended until 11:00am today and includes several more counties.
In New York those counties now susceptible to flooding now include:
- Broome
- Chenango
- Delaware
- Madison
- Oneida
- Otsego
- Sullivan
- Tioga
UPDATE: 10/15/2014 2018 The Flash Flood Warning in effect for Oneida County has been extended to include Herkimer County. The warning for Herkimer is in effect until 1:41am Thursday, October 16, 2014. The warning for Oneida County remains in effect until 1:00am.
Original Story:
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for eastern Oneida County until 1:00am Thursday morning.
Radar has indicated that the amount of rainfall will be excessive for the next several hours.
Since this afternoon between 2.0 and 2.5 inches of water have fallen. Heavy rainfall is expected to persist for the next several hours.
Locations in the warning area include, but are not limited to:
- Boonville
- New Hartford
- Rome
- Utica
Rapid flooding of streams, creeks, and rivers is anticipated. Poor drainage areas and those normally prone to flooding are included in the warning.
UPDATE 10/16 1:49 p.m.- The Flash Flood Warning Has been extended until 12:30 a.m. on Friday, October 17th.
