As a young guy I’m still learning what to do with money, and what not to do. I often break tradition and waste my money on petty things that I honestly don’t need. It appears I’m not the only one though, you’ll love this story!

Two years into this recession, there are still people who haven't gotten their act together. According to Uncoached.com, here's a rundown of financial advice that people never listen to:

  • Educate Yourself and Don't Use an Advisor: These advisors earn money off of commissions and don't really care whether or not you profit. Why trust them with YOUR money? Do some homework and take care of your business. Not saying all these advisors are bad, but how about Googling tips? That’s free!
  • Invest Using Your Own Style: Listen to your gut, make a few mistakes and roll with it. If you're really uncomfortable about an investment, you shouldn't make it. Think every purchase through.
  • If You Need More Money, Make More Money: It's always easier said than done, but rolling up your sleeves and working a bit harder is much better than sitting around worrying about things.
  • Don't Gamble More Than You Can Afford to Lose: As long as you have goals in place and make decisions based on achieving those goals, you won't lose money you can't afford to lose.

Like I said I’m a young guy, what are some tips you may have for me to save money, and not waste it? What are some great saving techniques?
