Women athletes are angry in England over the list of semi-finalists for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. It's the British equivalent of the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year award, and women such as Ironman world champion Chrissie Wellington are ticked that no women even made the top ten.

11-time Paralympic champion Tanni Grey-Thompson said the shortlist was just another example of the way sportswomen are treated by the media.

"I wouldn't want tokenism and I wouldn't want a woman to be on the list just because she was a woman," she said. "But I think you just look at where the nominations have come from and that highlights another problem really only two percent of media coverage in sport goes to women."

Lucky for us, we will never have that problem here in America because Sports Illustrated awards both a SportsMAN of the Year and a SportsWOMAN of the Year. Duke Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski won on the guys' side this year because he broke the NCAA all-time record for wins by a coach and they gave the women's award to legendary Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt.

Do you think women athletes get cheated out of attention they deserve?
