Additional Information

Westmoreland High School Drama will present the Broadway musical “Seussical” on March 20th, 21st and 22nd at 7:00pm in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for students and Senior Citizens and can be purchased at the door.

“Seussical” opened on Broadway in November of 2000 and has become one of the most popular musicals in schools and theaters since. It features the stories and characters from the Dr. Seuss books and has over 30 songs. The story is written on two levels, featuring the classic children’s tales, but also a very heart warming and entertaining script for all ages.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to a butter battling military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton's attention to the speck of dust and his "loitering" care of Mayzie LaBird's egg has elicited taunting and accusations from the rest of the animal kingdom, except for Gertrude McFuzz, who longs for his attention, and JoJo, whose "thinks" may be the key to helping them all.
This musical is filled with comedy, drama, wonderful music and a cast of over 60 actors. The show is directed by Kirk and Debbie Baldwin, who will be retiring this year after 30 years as drama advisors at Westmoreland. The pit band will be directed by Mrs. Kristyn Cutler. The cast features Alan Dee as The Cat; Austin Nogas as Horton; Samantha Chrysler as Gertrude; Stephanie Millage as Sour Kangaroo; Alexandria Dee as Mayzie; Nickolas Buchholz as General Schmitz; Matt Calogero as Jojo; Bella Popowski, Allie Brockway, Helen Gray and Roksolyana Thachuk as the Bird Girls; Bryce Thrasher, Jon Carr and Eric Hauk as the Wickersham Brothers; Allison Leone as Mrs. Mayor and Andrew Clanton as Mr. Mayor.
Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $6.00 for students and Senior Citizens and can be purchased from cast members, at the high school bookstore or at the door. Doors open at 6:00 pm. Curtain is at 7:00pm. Please note that this show has been rated “G” by Music Theater International.
