Ennis Nails Buzzer Beater To Keep No. 1 Syracuse Undefeated

Tyler Ennis drilled a long 3-pointer on the run as time expired to keep the top-ranked Syracuse Orange undefeated with a 58-56 win on Wednesday night on the road at No. 25 Pitt.

It was just another huge moment for the freshman point-guard who always seems to give the Orange a big play when they need it most. And, on Wednesday, they really needed the last 3 of his 13 points.

On the team's prior possession, Ennis hit two clutch free-throws to give Syracuse a 55-54 lead, their first since the game's opening minutes.

Facing their first deficit of the second half, the Panthers responded by attacking the basket with Talib Zanna drawing a questionable foul and sinking two free-throws of his own. It put the Orange (24-0, 11-0 ACC) in a one-point hole with 4.4 seconds to play, and setting the stage of Ennis to steal the night.

C.J. Fair also came up big with a team high 14 points, including eight straight down the stretch. Trevor Cooney shot 3-8 from beyond the arc for his 11 points.

Zanna had 16 points and 14 boards for the Panthers (20-5, 8-4 ACC). Pitt's Lamar Patterson added 14 points, four boards and four assists - including one 3-ball that gave his team a nine point lead at the 15-minute mark, Pitt's largest lead of the game.

Syracuse has now run it's best ever program start to 24-0 and won for just the second time in eight games at Petersen Events Center, marking the Panthers' first loss to a top-5 opponent in that arena.
