8,300 people have contracted Ebola during this year's outbreak. More than 4,000 have died. Many fear an out brake could happen right under our noses. One thing I bet you never thought Ebola could effect would be chocolate. It looks like it is!

Politico reports that the company The Ivory Coast (which is the world’s largest producer of cacao, the raw ingredient in M&M’s, Butterfingers and Snickers) has closed its borders to Liberia and Guinea because of Ebola. 33% of the world's chocolate starts with cacao beans on the Ivory Coast.

The World Cocoa Foundation is working now to collect large donations from Nestlé, Mars and many of its 113 other members for its "Coca Industry Response to Ebola Initiative".

The money will fuel Red Cross and Caritas Internationalis work to help the infected and staunch Ebola’s spread."

Expect to see a small spike in chocolate probably in the near future.
