We finally know when we will be able to finally return to the magical land of Thedas now that the release date for Dragon Age: Inquisition has been announced.

This trailer for the third entry of the Dragon Age series starts off with a cataclysmic blast that comes from a massive breach in the Veil. Dragon Age veterans might remember the Veil as the barrier that separates the normal world from the metaphysical, spirtual world of the dead known as the Fade. For some reason, your character survives this explosion from the Fade that has killed thousands of people and left you miraculously unharmed. One of the soldiers who finds this mass grave of bodies is shocked to see you alive and believes that you are a culprit in what transpired.

Since the mages of Thedas can travel to the Fade, this starts the Inquisition (primarily done by the Templar order from the first Dragon Age). Nevertheless, in order to prevent the explosive breach from expanding and swallowing the world, your ragtag group of heroes must set things right. Just look at those absolutely gorgeous visuals and new gameplay mechanics that the trailer shows off (using all in-game footage and no CGI cutscenes, mind you).

Prepare to close the breach when Dragon Age: Inquisition debuts on Oct. 7 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
