Disney Icon Annette Funicello From Utica Dead At 70 Years Old
One of Utica’s famous residents, Annette Funicello, has passed away at age 70. The former Disney Mickey Mouse Club member died from complications from multiple sclerosis.

Annette Joanne Funicello was born in Utica, New York, to Italian Americans Virginia Jeanne (née Albano) and Joseph Funicello. Her family moved to Southern California when she was only four years old. Funicello was 12 when she became a Mouseketeer. She really gained popularity when she co-starred with Frankie Avalon in a series of “Beach Party” movies in the mid-1960s. According to the USA Today, her family confirmed that she died from complications of multiple sclerosis. They were by her side when she was taken off life support.
