A little more alpha testing for the $500 million FPS, Destiny, couldn't hurt, but a cryptic Tweet from Bungie suggests otherwise.

We were rather disheartened that Destiny's alpha testing would only be for the weekend, but we became immensely happy upon seeing that it was still playable after its original closing time of 3AM EST this morning. According to Bungie, the alpha test for Destiny has been extended. Unfortunately, the team behind the original Halo titles has yet to say how long this extension will last.

Adding even more mystery as to why Destiny's alpha testing was extended is the following Tweet:

Destiny's beta testing will begin on July 17 on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 for those who have pre-ordered the game. Xbox pre-orders of Destiny can expect access to the beta on a later date in the summer. Alpha characters will not carry over, so make sure if you're still able to get back in there tonight to say a fond farewell to your created character.

Be ready to reclaim what's beyond the walls of the last city when Destiny launches on Sept. 9 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
