It’s rare that we see David Bowie these days, so the recent news that there was a Victoria and Albert museum David Bowie exhibition on the way got people wondering if the reclusive singer might rejoin the spotlight.

While there have been many rumors in recent years of the singer working on new music, there have also been just as many denials, and Bowie himself has largely remained out of the music scene, with only reissues of his catalog hitting stores in the years since his 2003 studio record, ‘Reality.’

Bowie wants everyone to know he has nothing to do with the exhibit, and he chose to let fans know about it in a rather humorous way. In a new Facebook posting, Bowie writes:

Contrary to recently published reports relating to the announcement by the V&A of an upcoming David Bowie Exhibition, I am not a co-curator and did not participate in any decisions relating to the exhibition.

The David Bowie Archive gave unprecedented access to the V&A and museum’s curators have made all curatorial and design choices.

A close friend of mine tells me that I am neither “devastated”, “heartbroken” nor “uncontrollably furious” by this news item.

Most recently, Bowie turned down an invite to perform at the Olympics, though the song ‘Fashion’ was played during the ceremonies.
