The Cincinnati Bengals player Devon Still was cut from the team, then brought onto the practice squad in order to help pay for his daughter’s cancer treatments.

ABC News reports Defensive tackle Devon Still found out Saturday that he had been cut from the Bengals’ roster but then found out he had been given a second chance for his daughter, 4-year-old Leah, who was diagnosed with stage 4 pediatric cancer in June.

“I completely understand where the Bengals were coming from when they cut me because I couldn’t give football 100 percent right now,” Still, 25, told ABC News. “They could have washed their hands with me and said they didn’t care about what I was going through off the field,” Still said. “It’s like a blessing in disguise for me.”

Being part of the practice squad, Still earns $6,300 a week, and he'll receive medical insurance.

“We’re going to go to battle with cancer,” Still said. “She’s willing to put up a fight to beat it.”

I defiantly have more respect for the team.
