Central New York’s Greatest Hit Maker Decision 2012- Journey vs REO Speedwagon

It’s week two of Central New York’s Greatest Hit Maker Decision 2012. Week two means more elections, and more votes. We want to focus on what may matter to you the most this election season: The Music. Today let's take a trip to the polls and vote for 80's Pop.

Last week our two candidates were from the 1980′s Pop Party. They were Journey and REO Speedwagon. Journey of course finished on top. Here's this weeks candidates for week 2.

Journey

Journey was formed in 1973 in San Francisco by former members of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch. Journey’s strongest commercial success occurred between 1978 and 1987. They have had eighteen Top 40 singles in the US, six of which reached the Top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and two of which reached No. 1 on other Billboard charts, and a No. 6 hit on the UK Singles Chart in “Don’t Stop Believin’”. A 2005 USA Today opinion poll named Journey the fifth best American rock band in history. Their songs have become arena rock staples and are still played on rock radio stations across the world.

REO Speedwagon

REO Speedwagon was formed in 1967 and they achieved significant commercial success throughout the 1980s. Hi Infidelity (1980) contained four US Top 40 hits and is the group's best-selling album, with over ten million copies sold. Over the course of its career, the band has sold more than 40 million records and has charted thirteen Top 40 hits, including the number ones "Keep On Loving You" and "Can't Fight This Feeling". REO Speedwagon's mainstream popularity dissipated in the 1990s but the band remains a popular live act
