Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is Skipping Wii U

Another big franchise is pulling support to Nintendo’s troubled home console, making the situation even more dire for the Wii U.

In a Twitter conversation with a fan, Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey revealed that the newest entry of the Call of Duty franchise, Advanced Warfare, will not be heading to the Wii U:

This is disheartening, if not surprising, news as the franchise has continued to support Wii U since its release in 2012. Now that Activision has pulled arguably the biggest franchise in gaming off of the system, we’re beginning to wonder if Nintendo has any third-party support left.

You may recall earlier in the month when Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that Watch Dogs’ Wii U version, whenever it hits, will be the last M-rated title from Ubisoft on the system even if the Wii U’s sales figures improve. Losing Ubisoft may be even more of an issue than losing Call of Duty, as Ubisoft was easily the most gung-ho about Nintendo’s vision leading up to the Wii U’s launch. We’re not sure what Nintendo has up their sleeves to counter this issue, but they better think of something and soon.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will launch November 4 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

It’s not like the Wii U would have gotten the gun sound effects right anyway…
