Bungie, the developers of Destiny, have discussed how it feels to work on a non-Halo game and what it means for the company.

According to GameSpot, Bungie community manager David "Deej" Dague spoke on a podcast with USA Today about the experience of working on a game in the company's post-Halo era.

"We'll never turn a blind eye to the accomplishments that come from the Halo era at Bungie," Dague said. "But as creators, as artists, as people with imaginations for how games can be new and different, and exciting, it was pretty liberating, actually, to start with a blank canvas and say, 'What sort of story do we want to tell now?'"

He mentions Halo's overwhelming success in 2001, but admits that the company had developed the game as a standalone experience and didn't have any plans in place to take the franchise further. They've learned from that mistake and have built Destiny with the future in mind.

Now that 343 Industries has taken up the mantle as the developers of the Halo series, the folks at Bungie can shift their minds away from the UNSC and focus on the Traveler and its Guardians for the next 10 years.

You can now explore the galaxy as a Guardian, but are you tough enough to be one of the 5 Best Space Mans in Video Games?
