It’s no joke — Blake Griffin will be waiting out the NBA lockout as an intern for Funny or Die.

The NBA’s reigning Rookie of the Year started his stint at the Will Ferrell-founded comedy website this week. Griffin, who’s a big fan of the site, hopes he will learn more about filmaking during his internship.

According to Funny or Die’s president of production, Mike Farah, the slam dunk contest champion will be treated like any other intern. “We’re going to put him to work,” Farah said. “He’s shooting a series of videos, and he’s also coming to meetings. He’s basically doing everything that an intern does.”

Griffin isn’t the first pro athlete to join the ranks of intern. Back in 2008, New York Rangers star Sean Avery raised eyebrows when he took on an internship with Vogue magazine.

Griffin does know a little something about comedy, too, having shot a funny mock-infomercial with Kevin Love and other NBA players for the ESPY awards. Check that out, below.
