Limited edition rarities collections from Bob Dylan and the Doors are among the treasures that will await you at your local independent record store this year on "Black Friday."

That's the day after Thanksgiving, or Friday, Nov. 29 if your calendar program is working as badly as ours is right now. The date has become a second, smaller version of the annual April Record Store Day barrage of special releases. These events are designed to bring much-needed attention to your favorite local music shop in these days of downloading and streaming domination.

The Doors' contribution bears the unwieldy title 'The Doors - Curated by Record Store Day' and features rare original mono versions of four as yet unknown classic tracks on one side, with four live performances on the other. Only 7,500 will be made, and according to the band's official site, there will be two versions of the album artwork -- one each with handwritten track lists from surviving band members John Densmore and Robby Krieger.

Dylan is offering a triple-vinyl version of 'Side Tracks,' a career-spanning collection of non-album singles and compilation cuts that have never appeared on his "proper" studio albums. This collection will otherwise only be available as part of the massive 'Complete Album Collection Vol. One' CD box set.

Other highlights include a classic-era Cheap Trick vinyl box, a live Grateful Dead set from 1970, and 180 gram versions of three early Paul Simon solo albums. Our complete list of known Black Friday releases can be found below.
