I can still recall my very first cup of coffee. It was good and hot, mostly hot. The first cup of coffee I really enjoyed was my brother-in-law's special almond blend. Thus began my java love affair. Here are my top 5 places in Central New York to grab a cup of coffee.

5.) Spressos, 160 Brooks Rd – Oneida Financial Center on Griffiss Park

The first time I visited Spressos I knew I would be coming back. The coffeehouse atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. It has a, "everyone is family" feel to it. Needless to say the coffee is second to none, top notch. Plus you won't spend a small fortune on your cup of java.

4.) Dunkin' Donuts

When you're driving around looking to grab a cup of joe, it's hard to miss one of the many Dunkin' Donuts in Central York. The price for a cup of coffee is a step up from our CNY diners, but still affordable. While I enjoy a regular cup with a little cream and sugar, Dunkin' Donuts is the place to go for the best French Vanilla coffee in Central New York.

3.) Castlewood Cafe, 1707 Burrstone Road, New Hartford

It must be something Don Wood puts in the water! When I am eating out for breakfast my first choice is Castlewood Cafe on Burrstone Road in New Hartford. They have an excellent breakfast menu and the best part is washing the delicious delights down with a mug of rich Castelwood coffee. The friendly service will never let you see the bottom of your cup!

2.) Starbucks

Yes, I enjoy Starbucks coffee. Their regular coffee is good and strong, however, I really enjoy their speciality flavors. The Pumpkin Spice, Gingerbread, and Egg Nog coffee are a highlight of the holiday season. The only drawback to Starbucks is the price. You know you're pushing the price on a cup of coffee when it's more expensive than a gallon of gas!

1.) Dippin' Donuts

A true Central New York original. As the name suggests, this is my pick for a cup of coffee and a donut. You just gotta dip that old fashioned into your coffee. I think it's the law. There is nothing better than soaking up your Dippin' Donuts coffee with your donut and popping it into your mouth while steaming hot! Coffee is good and strong but not too strong. Two great locations Black River Blvd., Rome and Senecca Turnpike, New Hartford.

That's my best coffee in Central New York. What's your favorite cup of coffee in Central New York?
