Greg McShea

I've got a long connection to the Mohawk Valley, having attended Utica schools and graduating from Utica College with a B.S. Degree in Public Relations. I've hosted a number of radio programs, and my voice has been heard on the local airwaves through the years. When I'm not broadcasting, I enjoy reading science publications and sci-fi novels, traveling to some favorite vacation spots, and anything "Star Trek". I am a native of the Utica area and have many friends and family members in the area.

Watch The Only Perfect Game In World Series History [VIDEO]

Most of us aren't old enough to remember October 8, 1956, but if you're a New York Yankees fan, you just might remember that date. On that day, Yankee Don Larsen pitched the only perfect game in World Series history, beating the then Brooklyn Dodgers 2 -0.

‘Star Trek’ Plea For William Shatner With ‘Greg On The Go’ [VIDEO]

If you're a "Trekker" like me, you probably can't wait until the next Star Trek movie, which I read was debuting in 2016. That would make it's arrival in theaters coincide with Star Trek's 50th Anniversary, as the TV show began in 1966 on NBC. So, wouldn't you think that Paramount Pictures would make sure that William Shatner, the original Captain James T. Kirk would be asked to be in the film?

Just For Laughs – Weird Al ‘Eats It’ [VIDEO]

Nobody does better song parodies than "Weird Al" Yankovic. In fact, when I play some songs on 96.1 WODZ like "My Sharona", I think of "Weird Al's" "My Bologna", or  "Jeopardy", I think of his parody, "I Lost On Jeopardy". "Just For Laughs", let's see what he can do with a Michael Jackson tune.

It’s ‘National Fire Prevention Week’, Time To Check Your Smoke Detectors

This is "National Fire Prevention Week", a time when we should take note of things we can do in our homes to keep us safe from fire and it's effects. I remember when I was a kid at Miller School in Utica, it was always exciting when that big red fire engine, the Utica Firemen and of course "Sparky The Fire Dog" came to our school during this week (and we got to go outside and get out of class).

Flashback To 60s Teen Music Shows [VIDEO]

When I was a kid growing up in the Cornhill section of Utica in the 1960s, we didn't have MTV or VH1 to see rock 'n roll on TV. We watched shows like "American Bandstand", "Shindig" and Hullabaloo". Yes, there actually was a show called, "Hullabaloo".

Utica’s Annette Funicello’s Debut On TV’s “The Mickey Mouse Club” [VIDEO]

One of Utica's shining stars of the 1950s and 60s was the late Annette Funicello. We remember Annette's career starring in all those beach movies, a singer with hit records, and one of the original "Mouseketeers." On this day in 1955, "The Mickey Mouse Club" featuring 12-year old Annette debuted on TV.
