Those hoping to start the next great Assassin adventure just before Halloween will no longer be able to do that, as Ubisoft has announced a two-week delay of Assassin's Creed Unity, the first game in the franchise designed entirely for the next generation of consoles.

IGN reports that Assassin's Creed Unity's release date has been pushed back two weeks. Ubisoft cites the need for more polish in development as the sole reason for the delay.

"As we got close to the finish, we realized we were near the target but still needed a bit more time to hone some of the details to make sure Assassin’s Creed Unity is exceptional,” Ubisoft senior producer Vincent Pontbriand said. “We sincerely appreciate players’ commitment to the game and their patience. It’s just a couple more weeks. And it’s going to be worth it.”

We're okay with developers wanting some more time to polish their game, but this is yet another game to try and opt out of the insanely crowded October release schedule. Before this delay, Unity's original release date of October 28 also had WWE 2K15, Sunset Overdrive, and Lords of the Fallen all launching the same day. Of course, the new date has Unity going head to head with Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Assassin's Creed Rogue, the last-gen Assassin's Creed game, so we're not sure things are better.

Assassin's Creed Unity will now launch on November 11 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

There are plenty of places you can find to hide a body during this two week delay.
