Aretha Franklin has agreed to sing at the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in Washington D.C. Franklin use to accompany King to churches in the early days of the civil rights movement. Franklin says singing at the dedication means a lot to her:

The Queen of Soul will sing "Take My Hand, Precious Lord", a song that King used to request her to sing:

I’m really looking forward to that moment and singing one of his favorite songs, his most requested song by me,’’ - Boston.com

The memorial will be unveiled August 28th on the National Mall.
