Boston and politics go hand in hand, but one thing that Bostonians like as much as an election is their hometown heroes, Aerosmith, and the band is planning something special for election week. The group has announced their intent to play a surprise show next Monday (Nov. 5), a day before we elect our president, as they try to rally their fans not only to vote but to also pick up their new album, 'Music From Another Dimension,' which arrives the next day.

The group will play somewhere on the streets of Boston around noon on Monday, but the band is keeping the location secret in order to help with crowd control issues. They'll officially announce the location Monday morning once they get the thumbs up from the local authorities.

Guitarist Joe Perry says, "Anyone who votes is a Freedom Fighter," quoting a song title from their new album. Perry recently declared himself "an old school Republican,"  and presidential hopeful Mitt Romney claimed that Aerosmith was one of his favorite groups, but ultimately the idea of the rally is to get their fans to vote, no matter which candidate they support.

The Monday performance will also serve as a warm-up of sorts, as the group will resume their 'Global Warming' tour with Cheap Trick on Nov. 8. in Oklahoma City.
