Steven Tyler and Joe Perry took time from their Aerosmith winter vacations to benefit a good cause. On Sunday (March 10), the Toxic Twins performed a mini-set at a benefit for victims of sexual abuse.

Backed by a makeshift band, the duo performed a handful of Aerosmith classics at John Varvatos’ clothing store in West Hollywood to raise money for Stuart House, a Santa Monica rape treatment center that specializes in the sexual abuse of children. At the end of their set, Tyler called out to Slash, who was in attendance. The ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist / current Angry Birds character then joined them on stage for ‘Mama Kin.’

“It’s about John’s passion for children and this endeavor he’s doing,” Tyler, who tackled the subject of sexual abuse of children in his band’s hit ‘Janie’s Got a Gun,’ told Rolling Stone. “It’s about the swept-under-the-rug thing with kids where they’re so young, they don’t know what’s going on, they’ve been abused sexually and they think it’s their fault, which is a travesty beyond travesties.”

Now in its 10th year, the event, which was hosted by Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, was attended by Alice Cooper, Billy Idol and Eddie Van Halen. Previous years’ benefits have seen performances by Cooper, ZZ Top and Cheap Trick.
