Aerosmith Begin ‘Global Warming’ Tour in Minneapolis

Aerosmith kicked off their Global Warming Tour last night (June 16) at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The sold-out crowd of 14,000 were treated to a 19-song, 100-minute set comprised almost entirely of hits from all phases of their career, and found time to introduce two new songs.

Opening with ‘Draw the Line,’ the band jumped a decade to ‘Love in an Elevator.’ They then rolled into the future with ‘Oh Yeah,’ a bluesy-stomp from their upcoming album, ‘Music from Another Dimension,’ which made its world premiere. Their new single, ‘Legendary Child,’ was performed towards the end of the set.

The middle of the set was comprised mostly of their later successes, with occasional detours (‘Last Child,’ ‘Combination’) before closing with the one-two punch of ‘Sweet Emotion,’ which topped our list of the Top 100 Classic Rock Songs, and ‘Walk this Way.’

Judging by the videos below, Aerosmith were in fine form musically and displayed none of the tension that had threatened to sink the band during the past few years. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry displayed their trademark “Toxic Twins” dynamic. Maybe they need to be reminded more often that, above everything else, the music comes first.
