4,500 Bottles Of Vodka worth $1.1 Million Have Been Stolen From A Miami Area Customs Warehouse
Imagine having over 4,500 bottles of Vodka stolen from your shop that are worth over $1.1 million. Would you be a little upset? I’m gonna guess yes! According to CNN, 4,500 bottles aka 752 cases of Spirit of the Tsars Golden Vodka have been stolen in Miami.
According to reports robbers busted a case-sized hole through a concrete wall and were able to smuggle the rest out of a warehouse. Bottles of this booze distilled in and imported from Ukraine, retail for $249 in liquor stores but can fetch $1,200 a bottle at nightclubs.
“We call it golden vodka for a reason. It’s an amber color, a golden color. It’s aged in cognac barrels for three years,” Mark Owens, president of Spirits of the Tsars Vodka, told CNN affiliate WSVN.
The bottles themselves are pretty valuable. A portion of the label is a 24-carat gold, so cleary these robbers knew what they were stealing. Only 5,000 bottles of the vodka are produced for export to the United States every year, so losing this much is a pretty big deal. There is currently a cash reward for $5,000 with any info.
